A 26-year-old woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder weeks after she allegedly fired at another vehicle during a road rage incident on Route 22.
Juliette A. Piscopo followed a car east along the highway from Dunellen to North Plainfield before she pulled up alongside the vehicle and firing shots, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Piscopo’s shots shattered the victim’s front driver’s side and passenger side windows. They also ripped holes in the fuel cap on the driver’s side and broke the rear passenger side window, officials said.
Piscopo fled the area following the shooting, which took place at about 9:05 p.m. on Feb. 2, on the westbound side.
The victim, a North Plainfield resident, was not hurt.
The dispute began at about 8:45 p.m. when Piscopo tried to merge from the shoulder in front of the victim and another vehicle, authorities said.
Piscopo, of Green Brook, surrendered last week following an investigation. She is also charged with two weapons offenses.
